About the Speaker:

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui is a renowned educationist, linguist, teacher, researcher, academic, administrator, and a prolific writer for the last three decades. He obtained his Ph.D. in Language Education from University of Toronto, Canada, M.Ed. TESOL from University of Manchester, U.K., and MA English Language and Literature from the University of Punjab.

Dr. Shahid has been involved with Educational system of Pakistan in various capacities, i.e., as a teacher, teacher educator, and researcher. Dr. Siddiqui has worked in several prestigious universities such as Aga Khan University, Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Allama Iqbal Open University and National University of Modern Languages, Islamabad to name a few. Currently, he is Dean Faculty of Social Sciences at Lahore School of Economics.

His areas of interest include socio-cultural aspects of language, educational change, and critical pedagogy. He is the author of Rethinking Education in Pakistan: Perception, Practices, and Possibilities; Education, Inequalities, and Freedom: A Sociopolitical Critique; Language, Gender, and Power: The Politics of Representation and Hegemony in South Asia; Education Policies in Pakistan: Politics, Projections, and Practices; Aadhay Adhooray Khwab a novel; Zair-e-Aasmaan; Mosam e Khush Rang; and Ad Pora Khawab. He regularly writes on educational and linguistic issues for the editorial pages of national Newspapers.
