Event Date: 12th October 2021

About the Webinar:

In this talk, the presenter Simon Borg discusses the role that self-awareness plays in teacher professional development. Simply defined, self-awareness means understanding what we do as teachers, why we do it and how effective our teaching is. ‘What do I do?’ ‘Why?’ and ‘Is it effective?’ are three simple but powerful questions that we can all ask about our professional practices. So the speaker gives you the chance to apply these questions to your own work, and use some examples from the area of grammar teaching to stimulate discussion about how you teach English. Teachers who are mindful of such questions will be able to reflect more effectively on their work, to identify topics for their own professional development, and to enhance the educational experience of their students.
